Todorov: Narrative Structure

Tzvetan Todorov, a Bulgarian structuralist constructed a way of looking at narrative structures according to the different stages of the narrative. He suggested that stories start off with an equilibrium where any potentially opposing forces are in balance. This is then disrupted by some events setting in chain a series of events. Problems are then solved which then means that the order can be restored to the world of fiction.
