A title sequence is a method where cinematic films or television programmes present their title, key production and cast members. There are many codes and conventions of an opening title sequence. Firstly, the most essential thing is that the title is shown, from the title the viewer may have an idea as to the genre or themes concerning the film. Secondly, it should some way introduce the viewer to the genre of the film and it should set up the themes that will be in the film. In addition to this, the opening sequence should feature the casting (key characters), production logo and team, film institution and the distributors logo. The opening title sequence should also feature the mise-en-scene (make-up, setting, props, costume, lighting). Sound should also be included and from the type of sounds the viewer hears in the background it may give them an insight as to the genre of the film. Finally, the opening title sequence should be interesting to the viewer because if it does not draw them it may put them off watching the film.
